Canvas & Peach

Glenbervie House was absolutely the perfect location for Emma and David’s wedding (Even if they didn’t know it a year ago!) What actually happens when you book the venue of your dreams only to be let down less than a year to go until your wedding? Lucky enough Emma and David were offered a different location that was just as perfect as the first especially when on their day it began to snow!

Starting off in the morning we photographed groom and bridal prep giving two different view points from the day. This was great for Emma and David because they got to see what each other were doing the morning of the wedding when looking back through their photographs. The morning went smoothly however Emma arrived a little later (IT’S TRADITION!) and walked down the aisle to the man she loves and they both said I do! After the ceremony we managed to squeeze some time in to take photographs of Emma and David outside in the snow for their couple photoshoot, this gave them the time away from everyone to just take in each other and catch up over what all happened in the morning. Once finished with that we moved on to groups and tried to photograph these quickly but professionally as it was freezing! Emma did not complain once about being cold! What a trooper. Later on came the speeches, a very heartfelt speech from Emma’s dad, a thankful speech from David and a hilarious speech from the best man who was hushed in to secrecy we think from Emma! Lastly we celebrated with some sparklers and photographed the first few dances all which where played by the amazing band Pacific!

It was the best day and everything went off without a hitch! We loved photographing everything, from the small details to the big group photographs. Thank you so much to the two of you for choosing Canvas and Peach Studios, we cant wait to see the two of you when you come back to get baby photographs done!

Emma and David’s Story

How did you meet?:

David met me on a night out I was on with my cousin which I have no recollection, he went to a party the following night and asked her to invite.

I decided to go, and he made a bee-line for me and pestered and pestered me to go on a date with him. I eventually gave in and the rest is history!!

The Venue & Why Did You Pick It?:

I always knew I wanted a private stately home which was exclusive, someone recommended me to go see The Parsonage in Dunmore. I loved the exterior but it was too modern for my style inside I wanted something more vintage 18th century style. The Wedding planner there recommended me to go see Solsgirth House in Dollar. As soon as I drove up the drive way to this venue I got butterflies and when I seen the actual venue I was so emotional I instantly fell in love with it. It was exactly what I had pictured in my head for us. We booked this venue the in September 2016 for our wedding in December 2017. On New years day 2017 I got the worst news that the venue had seized trading as a wedding venue.. I was distraught. I cried for days just couldn’t see past the venue. However the company came back and offered me Glenbervie House Hotel which had beautiful grounds and the inside grew on me so we swapped our wedding to here. Looking back on the day now and seeing the pictures I did love the venue and was happy we got moved there for many reasons.

Tell us about The Dress:

When looking for a dress I thought I wanted either plain princess shape in in satin or tight fitted lace that I had seen on Pinterest. Myself, mum and MOH all went to 3 shops and tried on many dresses some I picked some they picked. All dresses were similar to a degree. We went along to the last shop of the day Bibbidi Bobbidi boo – I explained the style I wanted and got took into that room. As I was picking in that room I felt an urge to go see the fitted, fishtail ones that I didn’t really want. I walked in the room walked straight over to the dress a ended up buying picked it up and said this is it without even trying it on. When I look back now I don’t know how I could have even seen the dress as it was squashed so tightly into the rails. As soon as I tried the dress on I sobbed I just loved it! My mum bought me the dress in September which was 1year and a half before the wedding worried I would change my mind. Not once did I change my mind I still love it today, and felt very me on the day with it on.

The bridesmaids/dresses:

I knew with the time of year I was getting married I wanted a classic colour so I picked navy – always knew I was going to be buying the girls a fur wrap to wear with the dress also due to it being winter. I searched online for a while trying to see styles I liked. I eventually ordered lots of high street brands and online sites in a few different styles, on was fishtail similar to my own dress. I only ordered online for an idea for shapes for the girls never thought we would find the actual dress easily. I got the girls to try on all the dresses with them all saying how much they loved the one I ordered from Misguided which was so reasonable and they all wanted to keep it. When I look at pictures I think the three girls all looked beautiful and that the dress was perfect with all their personal body shapes – my MOH was 8months pregnant HA!

The hen:

My maid of honor booked Barcelona for the hen do which was just both mums and bridal party. We all had an amazing time and all got on amazing. we had a good balance of sightseeing, fine dining and partying. I loved it!! and we all want to go back and visit again – I would recommend Barcelona to any bride.

We had a home hen also in Saint Judes, started of with afternoon tea with the family and bridal team, moving on to karaoke and dancing at night. I loved it here as we had a private room from 4pm-1am we played our own music and just had so much fun. I couldn’t have asked for a better home & away hen do….

Styling the venue:

My style for the day was a mix of classy/ rustic winter vibes. I knew instantly I wanted to wear a red lip on the day so I added red into my flowers. When choosing my flowers I wanted them to have winter berries, acorns, foliage and to look rustic with some ivory ribbons dropping down from the bouquet. With the buttonholes I asked for a single red rose for the groom with a little acorn on their to tie into the rustic winter theme. For my name cards I wanted to do something different so I had acorns with ceramic name tags on them – this was so people could also use these at home on their tree at Christmas or just as a decoration to remind them of our special day. With the candelabra’s everyone was saying have lots of flowers around them, but in my head I wanted less is more. I went for foliage with acorns and some flowers but very minimal. when I seen them on the day I just loved them, they were exactly what I wanted. Even my cake I didn’t want my cake to be like a typical wedding cake so I chose to have the cake texturized with acorns and winter dried fruit and cinnamon sticks, I also loved my cake.

Favourite Moments of the day:

My favourite moment from start of the day was getting ready in the morning I had such a fun morning and was so nice to share with my best friends and family, once I had my dress on I was desperate to get down the aisle to David I knew I wouldn’t be as nervous as soon as I was holding his hand. I loved doing our hand fasten and giving each other our wedding rings. I loved the speeches and the food was amazing. I loved the full day so much – wish I had danced more is my only regret.

Grooms wear:

David picked himself he loved the Isle of Skye tartan as soon as he seen it and was determined that was the one he was going to wear on the day – very David style.

When we went to get page boy kilt they didn’t do the green jacket so we decided to put all the boys in the matching jacket to the kids and just groomsmen in the green jacket and socks. I was so happy with how it looked in the pictures.

Honeymoon Details:

We went to Sri Lanka it was AMAZING!! David choose it due to a friend who used to live their recommended. we had a good split of beach, jungle, city. We seen a lot of cultural places and we just relaxed so much. I would recommend to everyone.

The Suppliers:

Starting with the amazing Canvas & Peach studios- the girls were amazing, you both captured all the fine details of our wedding day and in years to come we can look back and remember everything and everyone that was part of our wedding day. You both made us feel so relaxed and didn’t feel like we were getting bombarded for pictures. We have now received our pictures and couldn’t have asked for better.

Gordon Eddie Videographer – Gordon was amazing, I didn’t feel like he was there at all on the day. He was very relaxing to be around in the room in the morning and is an absolute gent – would recommend to anyone booking a videographer for their wedding.

Forget me not Florists- Lyndsey was amazing from start to finish, i would recommend her to everyone getting married. She listened to my ideas and helped me with things that would work. She also was happy to help when i asked to change small details and add more buttonholes, table plan mirror etc nothing was ever a problem. i will now always use her as my florist for anyone local.

Make believe events – Never actually met them as I had booked the dance floor- they came and laid it on time and it looked fab and was very reasonable.

Ruth Harper Make up & Nicole Sinclair Make up- These girls I choose as they are friends and I knew I would feel so comfortable with them, the make ups they done on our bridal party and family were beautiful and every one was so so pleased with their look.

Dawn Russell Cakes – Dawn works with my mum and was great to deal with for my cake it was exactly what I wanted and it tasted amazing.
